Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

The department for education has recognised four types of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in the SEND Code of Practice 2014:

Communication and interaction
Cognition and learning
Social, mental and emotional health
Sensory or physical

As a school we will sometimes commission other professionals to help us meet an individual child’s needs in school or we may need to recruit staff or buy specialist equipment in order to support a child with SEN. For further information please see www.ealing.gov.uk/send

Alternative Resource Provision

Elthorne Park High School’s Additional Resource Provision (ARP) is an inclusive provision which caters for up to 27 children from Year 7 to Year 11, across Key Stages 3 and 4.

The ARP supports students with Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN) with a specific diagnosis of Development Language Disorder.

All pupils must have an EHCP detailing their speech/language difficulties to be eligible. Students follow a highly tailored Key Stage 3 curriculum preparing them for the Elthorne Park ARP Certification (EPAC) at Key Stage 4.
