Just a reminder that your School Street starts on Monday 19th January 2026.
Westlea Road, Southdown Avenue including Wyke Gardens, Wellmeadow Road and Boston Vale will be closed to traffic between 8:25 to 9:00am and 2:45 to 3:30pm.

Parents will not be allowed to drive in this area at these times, unless they are a resident of the School Street, or their child has a Blue Badge, and they have applied for a School Street permit.
The times are clearly shown on the Pedestrian and Cycle Zone signs at the start of the School Street.

Children are encouraged to walk, scoot or cycle to school. Or Park and Stride (park a bit further away and walk to school from there)
If your child is a Blue Badge holder you must apply for a permit for exemption to access the School Street. Please apply for a permit at School Streets vehicle exemption form.

The School Street is designed to make the area around our school less congested and safer for our families, while improving the air quality. Remember it is LOW traffic not NO traffic so please be careful on your school journey, even in these quiet streets.
We look forward to seeing you all arriving on foot, by bicycle or scooter, and welcoming you in a much quieter, calmer and safer environment.
Please see the newsletter for further information. Image

On Wednesday 2nd July Ms Googridge took a small group to attend More than Words: Languages for the Future, a one-day event organised by Pearson Edexcel and held at the iconic Arsenal Emirates Stadium. Designed to inspire students who may not immediately see the value in learning a foreign language — or who feel unsure about their abilities — the event was packed with engaging presentations, interactive activities, and a mini careers fair focused on the diverse opportunities that languages can unlock.
Our students represented Elthorne Park High School with pride, showing exemplary behaviour and immersing themselves fully in the day’s events. While we didn’t compete in the talent contest, we all enthusiastically joined in with a lively Bollywood dance session — with staff showing just as much energy as the students! It was a joyful moment that captured the spirit of the day: learning languages can be fun, inclusive, and empowering.
At Elthorne, we’re proud of the breadth and quality of our language provision, offering and supporting a wide range of languages for GCSE study. This event reaffirmed our commitment to encouraging every student to see the value of languages — not just for exams, but for life beyond the classroom.
